Pay claims

Insurance claims that have been approved are due for payments. This window allows the user to process insurance claim payments provided the user has access to the cash accounts.

How to process insurance claims payments.

To process insurance claims payments, you go to Insurance/pay claims and a screen like the one below shows up:

• Policy: Choose the policy whose claims you want to enter/ register.
• Select claim: From the drop down, select the claim you want to process its payment. There may be several claims in the drop down.The claim details will only display after selecting the policy.

• Note that: Most of the field in this window will have data but will be a read only because the data is derived from the receipts earlier entered.

• Event occurred on: The date that the insured event happened will appear here.
• Claim date: The date that the insurance claim was placed will appear here e.g "30/03/2021".
• Claimant name: The name of the claimant or his/her representative will automatically appear here once the claimant's policy has been selected e.g "Clarisa Acosta".
• Admission date: The date that the person was admitted will appear here e.g "25/03/2021".
• Discharged date: The date the Insurance claim was placed will appear e.g "25/03/2021".
• Claimant phone: The telephone contact of the claimant will appear here e.g "+256-778564454".
• Relation with holder: If the person who presented the Insurance claim was not the policy holder or owner of the policy, the relationship with the policy holder as indicated underInsurance/Claims will appear here.
• Client code: The client code of the selected policy will automatically populate here.
• Accident \ disease: The item code of the nature of the Insurance event that occurred to the claimant against which this payment is made will appear here.
• Payment date: Enter here the date that the claim is being paid e.g. 30/03/2021.
• Cheque number: If this claim is going to be paid by cheque, the cheque number field will be activated, the bank field will also appear for you to select the bank to use.
  

• Enter the cheque number here as seen below: The rest is the same as when paying by cash.
  
  

• Voucher: Enter the voucher number of this payment here e.g "001".
• Payment type: Select the payment type that will be used to pay the claim e.g "Cash, by cheque, direct to bank or by savings transfer".
• Claim number: The claim numbers against this policy will be listed here chronologically. In this case this was the second - claim number 2
• Receipt number: The receipt number attached to this claim will appear against it in the receipt number column in the grid.
  
• Receipt date:The receipt date on this claim will appear receipt date column in the grid.
• Hospital\Clinic: The name of the hospital or health facility that originated the receipt will appear here.
• Description: The description of this payment as indicated under Insurance/claim will appear here.
• Approved amount: The approved amount as indicated under Insurance/approve receipts will appear here.
• Save: Click on the save button to save the transaction.
